Not strictly a joke, but I was greatly amused by the story of Benvenuto Cellini's friend's fart during a ceremonial magic ritual at the Colosseum in the 16th century. The story is told in his autobiography, I first read about it in a presentation (Mitä on magia?) by the Finnish occultist Pekka Ervast.
