And now for something quite Gandalfian.

The Grey Wanderer

An outcast from this world of pious men
I travel through the worlds of old
Through the chasms, upward the mountains
In all the directions of space and time

Sometimes an eagle
At others a wolf
Sitting beside the lake
Clad in blue and grey

I have roamed these lands for untold past ages
Guiding my people, fighting the giants
In the guise of an old crooked man
I am still among them in disguise

I am the grey wanderer
Wayweary of these long travels of mine
I am the lord of the Aesir
Upholding the sacred order

Necklaces had I
And rings from the Heerfather
Wise was my speech and my magic wisdom
Widely I saw over all the worlds

Into memory's well I once sacrificed an eye
Nine long days and nights I hung upon a tree
To initiate myself to the secrets of the nine worlds

Now I only seek to guide and counsel
Both the old and the young of my people
Through my long travels I have gained wisdom
From all the corners of the earth

What you know of me are only stories and legends
A wayfearer, an old man leaning on a staff
Honored by some, feared by others, known by none

No one knows whence I come and whither I go
I always arrive from the direction least expected
My ways are not to be pigeonholed

They claimed I had fallen
and there it was: my throne broken
into myriad pieces
Each piece became an aeon,
a feather of iron

He keeps pulling me out
of His magician's hat
He, who knows who I am, in fact
I'm but His dull queen
by the kitchen table
In fact, a maid
a servant,
a piece
of His heard
cathered around His throne
pulled up and down
by His magnetic hand

The Grey Wanderer
Very enjoyable. Can one ever go wrong with Gandalf?

I love this, Ave. The words and the arrangement. Beautiful.

Thanks, both of you, for sharing.

I'd like to see these poems by Ave published in a book some day, but still not written for the book, just collected for it. The very distinct left hand themes compel me to imagine what the book would look like.

I'm glad those words spoke to you, Polyhymnia and Smaragd. About the book that Smaragd mentioned: this is a kind of online poetry, I have scattered my wordly arrangements and visions around the internet - and the internet will be their grave, hahha. I have thought that maybe it would be beneficial to collect them for a one reason - if my kids someday become curious about their mother as a person (as I became curious about my parents).

I came to post some Milton and found a world of beauty in this thread. Thanks for sharing, Lux Ferre. In direct reflection to the "dark shining Left Hand path of Satan" may I offer:

"What if the breath that kindl'd those grim fires
Awak'd should blow them into sevenfold rage
And plunge us in the flames? or from above
Should intermitted vengeance arm again
His red right hand to plague us?"

-Paradise Lost (John Milton, 1674)

Shinigin red star light of mercurus maybe i breack The chain maybe i see darkness of Saturnus love of Venus
born of ash. born of the ashes of mystery born of the gatekeeper of secrets at astral road junctions. Echoing emptiness inside me, the lead wings of shady birds. The sacred sacrament of death, which transforms into a living love under the vine, the lost wine of which you drink with the most beautiful and wise shining angel.

But thank your kind words polyhymnia we are spiritual path Black path of satan

I'm heavy of things unborn
I'm heavy as the root
of a blossomless flower
I'm the raging sea
and the teacup porcelain
holding against the storm
Storm so untamed and deadly
in a teacup of rosary-roses

I shall mark the cracks with golden paint
